MANAGING DRUG SUPPLY FOR PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

COURSE DIRECTORS
Lecturers are recruited from Management Sciences for Health, International
Dispensary Association, World Health Organization and invited guest
lecturers that have extensive experience in essential drugs program
management.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
Physicians, pharmacists, senior health system managers, and technical
assistance professionals form Ministries of Health, non-governmental
organizations, and donor agencies.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The two week course will be conducted in English and consists of
presentations, discussions, group activities, and field visits. The course
is highly participatory. The interchange of skills and experiences among
participants is essential for course activities and learning. Sessions

Forecasting Drug Needs
Procurement Methods and Strategies
Suppliers Selection and Evaluation

Financing Drug Supply

Drug Supply Information Systems
The course aims to expose participants to modern management principles of
drug supply systems and to teach how to apply them in their own specific
situation. The course also provides practical tools to decision-makers and
managers in essential drugs programs to improve their level of performance
and a forum for the exchange views and experiences.
FEES AND DEADLINE
Tuition, course materials, field trips, transfer to and from airport, si
ngle occupancy accommodation, three meals during the week, breakfast during
the weekend: $4,100
Airfare, incidentals, and health insurance are the responsibility of the
sponsoring organization.
Deadline for confirmation of funding: 17 August, 2001.
