E-drug: generic fluconazole, ciprofloxacin, AZT? (cont)

Fluconazole's patent dates back to 1982, ciprofloxacin to 1983, so
you have to wait until resp. 2002 and 2003. Zidovudine is a controversial
matter because it was discovered in 1964, but not
patented until 1986. Apparently some patent regulations also cover
the indication. Anyhow, zidovudine is very difficult to synthesize
because it is explosive. Wellcome has built a special factory for it;
so you can forget about generics.
